Toddler Tuesday: Teaching your child to read

On this Toddler Tuesday, we chat with The Bump Expert, who recently received these questions:

Is it too early to start teaching my child to read?

My toddler is really getting the hang of identifying letters of the alphabet. Is it too early to try to teach her to read? How would I get started?

The Bump Expert responded; “The brains of most children haven’t developed the skills it takes to read until around age five or six. It’s possible that your toddler will pick it up sooner, but giving her reading lessons generally won’t speed up the process.

It’s never too early, however, to get her prepared — and excited — for her reading days. And the best way to do that is to read to her. Make the reading experience interactive by letting her pick out the book she wants you to read, holding the book in a way that she can see the pictures clearly, and asking her to point to the recognizable items on each page.”

What are your thoughts, please share with us on our Facebook Fan page today!

Toddler Tuesday: Celebrate Fall with Family (Fashion and Fun Activity)

If you’re looking for an outdoor fall activity with your toddler and want to stay on top of your comfortable fall fashion; consider the movie screening of Spookley: The Square Pumpkin at Montpelier Farms.

Spookley Square Pumpkin movie

Fashionistas first the activity, come out and visit with Spookley! Daily movie screenings on Saturday’s and Sunday’s in October during any of these movie times; 12:00 pm/2:00 pm/4:00 pm.  The movie last 45 minutes max.  And added bonus.  There will be a huge inflatable square pumpkin to take your picture with! Here’s a quick trailer from the movie.

Now the fashion part of fall.  Its not that hard to remain stylish, yet comfortable during the fall season.  Here’s the perfect outfit look for this family event.

Velour Skinny Pants: Skinny velour pants with a figure-hugging fit are a plush alternative to legging jeans. Faux pockets detail the front, and patch pockets trim the back. Button closure and zip fly.

Blank Denim Velour Skinny Pants

Top: Raw edges and an elongated side slit give a loose-fitting tee an easygoing, unfinished look. An uneven hem gives the silhouette a relaxed drape. Semi-sheer.

Cheap Monday Slice Top

Jacket: Rugged denim constructs a vivid cropped coat from Kelly Wearstler, finished with a cool studded panel of oxidized snaps along the front opening. An extended tab closes the stand-up collar, while a double-snap tab fastens the front hem. On-seam pockets discreetly detail the front, and a perforated metal ring accents the back yoke. The fitted long sleeves end in zip cuffs. Unlined.

Kelly Wearstler Rugged Denim Jacket

Booties: A bold exterior zip opens the gusseted shaft of these sturdy leather boots, styled with a bold contrast sole. A detachable strap wraps the ankle, and another buckles over the instep. Stacked rubber heel and sole.
